Planned and organized by co-chairs Bonnie Altomante and Jenni Thompson, The PLCC Holiday Luncheon was a resounding success on every level – fundraising, entertainment by Palmas Dance Academy, opportunity to do holiday shopping at vendor kiosks, a delicious buffet, and a chance to mingle with old friends and meet our newer residents. More than 70 members and friends attended this annual holiday event at Chez Daniel. PLCC raised $7,000+ from donations, raffle tickets and a portion of the luncheon cost for our 2018 holiday Food and Toy Drive. Under the leadership of Melva Montemayor, food , money and toys were distributed to area soup kitchens and to a shelter for abused children and their mothers who are also victims of abuse. These grass roots organizations depend on our generosity to feed hundreds of needy people throughout the year, and to bring smiles to the faces of children who might not otherwise experience the joy of Christmas. In addition, 20 local families received food and money for meat for their Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. And, of course, Christmas gifts were provided for the children of these families. Palmas Ladies Community Club's main mission is helping others who live in Puerto Rico. A huge thank you to everyone who supports our efforts.
