On the weekend of June 21-23, 2019, a group of colleagues from the 1989 class of the School of Dentistry of the School of Medicine at the University of Puerto Rico celebrated its 30th anniversary. Friends from across the island and others that live in the diaspora travelled from Waco TX, Miami, Tampa, Naples, Durham, North Carolina and Virginia to join the celebration. It was a memorable weekend that began Friday with a happy hour at the Mahi Bar at the Wyndham Candelero Beach Hotel that served as a lodging and
center for activities.

Then that same night they visited Chez Daniel at the Beach Club for more drinks, music and a delicious dinner on the terrace of the Beach Club, under the stars. On Saturday morning, some went to play golf early in our beautiful PAC golf courses. Another group went on a walk to the Pterocarpus forest of Palmas del Mar. The afternoon passed without problems enjoying the beach and swimming pools of our renovated Wyndham Candelero Beach Hotel. In the evening they continued their celebration in the Hotel Barracuda Lounge with cocktails and appetizers accompanied by dinner and live music.

There was also a raffle for commemorative painting by one of Ponce’s talented artists, Dr. Dora Emanuelli. On Sunday morning, to close the weekend festivities, they left Palmas for a Chinchorreo to 3 lovely restaurants on the southeast coast of the island. “I recommend Palmas for any type of celebration or group meeting. Our community has the perfect facilities for any group. It offers security, affordable accommodation, a variety of places and restaurants, and also has a wide variety of services such as golf, tennis, beach, swimming pools, horseback riding, nature walks, cycling, jogging trails, etc.” said Dra.

Helena Ramos, a longtime resident of Palmas and one of the organizers of this meeting. “It was a magical weekend that will be in our memories and in our hearts throughout our lives,” she said and added that they hope to celebrate their 35th anniversary in the West “or who knows … again in Palmas, our piece of paradise, our heaven on earth”. “I highly recommend Palmas for any kind of celebration or group gathering, our community has the perfect facilities for any group.
