For 17 years Palmas del Mar & La Buena Vida Festival committee celebrates La Buena Vida Festival, a food, wine and art festival intended to benefit three of Humacao’s non-profit entities: PECES, a community organization aimed towards prevention, education and entrepreneurship at the Humacao Playa area. “We believe that attention and support to children and their families help build strong ties and successful individuals. We also work with schools in our region to support and complement their services. In addition, our alternative high school provides educational services to students who have not found in the traditional system the tools they need to thrive. On the other hand, our small-business incubation program welcomes budding entrepreneurs in need of improving their professional skills as well as others looking to enter the job market. Thank you all who made this possible!” explained Sister Nancy, founder and Vice President of PECES.

Another of the organizations benefited by this magnificent activity is CASA DE LA BONDAD, Inc which aims to support domestic violence victims and their children by promoting love, security, wellness, and personal development so that regardless of their circumstances they may reach their full potential in life. Casa de la Bondad assists victims from all across Puerto Rico as stated by Gloria M. Vázquez Meléndez, Executive Director of Casa de la Bondad. Hogar Cuna San Cristobal, on the other hand is a non-profit organization established in 1992. It is the first home in Puerto Rico licensed for adoption. It temporarily houses children removed for abuse or children not yet adopted that are between the ages of 0 to 7. “We also receive children through voluntary delivery for those women who face unplanned or unwanted pregnancies and see adoption as a responsible alternative,” stated Ms. Ivonne L. Vélez Castro, Hogar Cuna San Cristobal Executive Director.
